“Shapely”

Red riots and blue scapegoats,

the same white pill.

What if I don’t want to swallow?

My veins have had enough,

cut and dried,

pasted in a scrapbook.

This is not my life.

I painted stars on my skin,

and wings on my back.

Someone tore them off,

said they weren’t symmetrical.
